Admission to Traditional BSN

The upper-division includes the clinical component of the nursing curriculum. Students must submit a nursing program application and be accepted for admission to be eligible to enroll in upper-division or level 300 and 400 courses.

Admission to the upper-division is highly competitive and spaces are limited. When the number of students applying to the upper-division exceeds the number of spaces available, the most qualified applicants will be admitted. Applicants with the strongest academic records and the most promise for success in the upper-division will be admitted. 麻豆精品视频 students who have completed 30 or more hours at 麻豆精品视频 will be given priority consideration for admission over transfer students.

Students who qualify for our Dean's Scholar Program will have different qualifications to meet for admission.

Admissions Policy

Enrollment into the University (pre-professional/lower division component) as a nursing major does not assure the student admission to the Professional (upper division) Component. Enrollment in the upper-division nursing component is limited and competitive. Students are admitted without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, sex, or qualified disability.

Students Must Be Accepted to the University Before Applying to the College of Nursing.

Students are admitted every fall and spring semester.

Admission Criteria

Applications are reviewed carefully to determine that students have satisfied all pre-nursing requirements. Students are selected based on the following factors:

  1. Admission to the University before the application deadline
  2. Submission of a completed nursing application by posted deadlines
  3. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on all nursing prerequisite courses
  4. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 in all required science courses
  5. A minimum grade of "C" in all nursing prerequisite courses
  6. A minimum categorical score of proficient or better on the ATI TEAS.
Admission may be forfeited if any admission criteria are not met.

The 麻豆精品视频 College of Nursing reserves the right to select the applicants best qualified for and most likely to succeed in the study of nursing. Failure to comply with legal, moral, and legislative standards for licensure to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Alabama merits immediate dismissal from the nursing program. In keeping with the dynamic changes in the nursing and health field, the baccalaureate curriculum may change. Changes in curricula or admission requirements will be published as soon as possible.

Interested students are strongly encouraged to meet with or contact a 麻豆精品视频 College of Nursing advisor when applying to the program.

Additionally, if you have attended any previous nursing program, you must be in good standing and able to progress to be considered eligible for our program. Failure out of another program or failure of a nursing class renders you ineligible for our program.
