What is a One-on-One Research Consultation?

Whatever you need it to be. No, really. We shape them to fit your needs. We can talk to you about library resources, how to find your way in the stacks, how to cite information, how to design research goals, how to combine the big questions with right tools, how to understand copyright issues, and more. Every big project is its own thing, and so every research consultation is unique. It can take 15 minutes or it can take an hour. It can be a single session or it can be three. Let us know what you need, and we will find a way to help you find it.

Just to clarify, this is a free service to our patrons and is simply another way for us to answer any questions you might have.

We can do One-on-One sessions remotely!

We can use Google Hangouts/Meet, Zoom, Skype, or a number of other technologies to provide access to One-on-One Research Consultations so that you can receive the detailed help you need right from the comfort of your own home. 

Evening Reference & Research Help Appointments

If you are unable to meet with the Research Help Desk librarians during the normal desk hours of Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, then you can use this form to request an appointment outside of those times.

This is limited to Monday through Thursday, 5pm to 9pm during Fall and Spring Semesters. We request that you give us at least three days advance notice to have time to schedule these evening appointments. 

NOTE: After Hour appointments are subject to both the  and to librarian availability. Appointments will not be scheduled when the library is closed due to holidays, reduced hours, and so forth. 

If you need help and cannot schedule an appointment, contact your subject specialist librarian ahead of time and discuss alternatives (such as prepared materials or answering questions in a more asynchronous way).
